Medicare, explained like a good friend would.
Medicare has four main "parts." Here's what each one means for you, in everyday words.
Hospital care
Helps pay for hospital stays, short-term skilled nursing care after a hospital stay, hospice and some home health care.
Learn more → BDoctor visits
Helps pay for doctors, outpatient care, tests, medical equipment like walkers, and many preventive screenings.
Learn more → CMedicare Advantage
A private plan approved by Medicare that bundles Parts A and B — and usually drug coverage — into one plan.
Learn more → DPrescriptions
Helps pay for the medicines you take. Your yearly out-of-pocket drug costs are capped.
Learn more →Medicare Supplement (Medigap) is extra insurance that works alongside Parts A and B to help pay the costs they leave behind, like deductibles and the 20% coinsurance. See how Medigap works →
Three gentle steps — and you're in control at every one.
- We listen first. Tell us about your doctors, your medicines and your budget. Take all the time you need.
- We explain your choices. We'll compare the plans we offer in your area and explain what each would cost you, in plain words.
- You decide. If a plan feels right, we'll help you enroll. If not, that's perfectly fine. Our help is free.

Medicare costs for 2026, in plain numbers.
These figures come from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). They change every January.
Most people don't pay a premium for Part A. People with higher incomes may pay more for Parts B and D. People with limited income may get help paying these costs.
Helping Mom or Dad with Medicare?
You're not alone — many of the calls we receive come from sons, daughters and spouses. Here's how to make it easier:
- Ask your loved one to complete Medicare's authorization form so Medicare can speak with you about their account.
- Keep one list of their doctors, medicines and pharmacy — and update it each fall.
- Join the call together. With their permission, our agents can speak with both of you.
Questions we hear every day.
Is your help really free?
Yes. Our licensed agents are paid by the insurance companies whose plans they offer, so there's no cost to you — and you're never obligated to enroll.
Are you part of Medicare?
No. Elderly Care Quotes is a licensed insurance agency. We are not connected with or endorsed by the U.S. government or the federal Medicare program. You can always reach Medicare directly at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
I already have Medicare. Can you still help?
Yes. Many people review their coverage every year, because plan costs and benefits change each January. Open Enrollment, from October 15 to December 7, is the main time to make changes.
Will I have to change doctors?
Not necessarily. With Original Medicare and a Medigap plan, you can see any doctor who accepts Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans often have networks, so we check your doctors before you choose.
Does Medicare pay for a nursing home?
Medicare covers short-term skilled nursing care after a qualifying hospital stay, but it generally does not pay for long-term "custodial" care — help with bathing, dressing and eating. Medicaid may help people with limited income and resources.
Can my son or daughter call for me?
Yes, family members are welcome to call. To discuss your specific information or enroll you, we'll need your permission, and you may need to be on the line.
We'll go at your pace.
A friendly, licensed agent will explain your Medicare options slowly and clearly — and answer every question, however small. There's no cost for our help and no obligation.
